RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – While some may have slept in or even woken up early to start Thanksgiving dinner preparations, some in the Triangle got a running start to their celebrations.
Around 3,000 people earned their Thanksgiving feasts after taking part in the 2015 Ridgewood Turkey Trot.
The run started and finished on Wade Avenue and lasted eight kilometers, or just about five miles.
Some walked, some jogged and some ran, but no matter what the pace, trotters celebrated giving thanks together.
“Well it’s great to get moving before you sit down to that feast and it’s kind of a stressful time, so it’s a great stress release and we’re seeing lots of neighbors and friends here as well,” said walker Jill Mills.
Proceeds from the Turkey Trot are donated to the National MS Society.
