HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. (WNCN) – This Thanksgiving will be one to remember for dozens of local dance students. After they appeared on NBC during Thursday morning’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
During the parade, NBC Today anchor Matt Lauer said, “These 600 kids are from school dance teams and studio’s all across the country.” One of the teams came from North Carolina, the Holly Springs School of Dance.
“It is super exciting,” Darrell Annas of Holly Springs told WNCN.
Thursday, Annas and the rest of his family huddled in the basement to watch his daughter, 17-year-old Kylie, and 47 other dancers from Holly Springs School of Dance in the parade.
“They started rehearsing two month ago,” Annas said. “Pretty much their entire week in New York they’ve been dancing.”
Annas said his daughter, who has been dancing for 15 years, couldn’t wait for this big opportunity in the Big Apple.
During the performance, one family member yelled, “There she is!!”
“We’re very thankful,” Annas said. “It’s a great opportunity for family to come together and watch this event.”
Dancers from Holly Springs School of Dance will travel back to New York City for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in three years.
