GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) – Members of the undefeated Carolina Panthers took time Tuesday to promote healthy choices with students at East Garner Magnet Middle School.
Former N.C. State wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery and others were at the school as part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 program.
“The destination when you play this game [is you] want to win a Super Bowl, and we have our eye on the destination but we appreciate the journey,” Cotchery said. “And I think that’s the best thing about this group, we enjoy every minute of being with one another when we go to practice, when we go to meetings.”
Fuel up to Play 60 is an in-school program launched by National Dairy Council and NFL to help promote kids to lead healthier lives.
The Panthers presented a $10,000 hometown award to expand school nutrition.
“It’s fun definitely a good start to the week, being able to get out here And give back and see how excited the kids get, and the Panthers do a great job of hosting it. It’s fun to be a part of, and it’s definitely a blessing for us,” said kicker Graham Gano.
The Panthers travel to New Orleans Sunday for a divisional matchup with the Saints.
