Drive-by shooting delays Durham school’s dismissal

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Lakeview School was on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after two men were shot in a nearby drive-by shooting, Durham police said.

Two men were standing outside of a residence on Dearborn Drive near the school when shots were fired from a silver vehicle around 2 p.m.

Both men ran to the school for help, prompting the lockdown.

Both have been transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Durham police said the shooting victims are not students at the school.

The school was dismissed by 3:20 p.m., the district said.

Lakeview is an alternate program for students in grades six through 12.
