ABERDEEN, N.C. (WNCN) — A man died after he was hit by a truck around 5:45 p.m. on US 1 in Aberdeen on Monday afternoon, according to the Aberdeen Times.
Emergency workers responded and performed CPR on the man for approximately 30 minutes before he died at the scene, which was in front of Aberdeen Lake.
The man who died was later identified as Johnny Alan Mason, age 62, of Aberdeen. Mason was a longtime resident in the Broadway community of Aberdeen, the Aberdeen Times reported.
Southbound lanes of US Highway 1 were closed for about 45 minutes during the incident.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Responding to the accident were units with Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, NC State Medical Examiner’s Office, Aberdeen Police Department, and the NC State Highway Patrol.
