SC college golfer killed in crash after BMW hits tree

ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (WNCN) – A student athlete from the College of Charleston died Sunday when his vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree, authorities said.

Jackson Deval Moore, 21, was driving a 2010 BMW around 1 a.m. in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, when the vehicle ran off the road and hit a tree.

Moore was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the car was transported to the hospital was but was later released.

Moore was in his fourth season a golfer for the College of Charleston, the school said.

Moore played in 13 career tournaments and his best finish was tied for 13th twice in 2013-14.

He was a business administration major.
