RALEIGH, N.C. – For the fourth consecutive year, WNCN participated with the Capital City Clauses along with iHeartMEDIA to “Stock The Sled!”
This year, 1,859 toys were donated!
This day-long community event continued WNCN’s tradition of collecting thousands of toys for local children in need each holiday season. On Friday, Dec. 11, WNCN invited the community to bring new, unwrapped toys to two local Wal-Mart locations:
- 10050 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh (Brier Creek)
- 5450 New Hope Commons Drive, Durham (I-40 Exit 270)
There is particularly a need for toys for children up to the age of 2 and from the age of 10 to 12.
WNCN broadcasted live from each location throughout the day and featured appearances by WNCN News personalities Sean Maroney, Sharon Tazewell, Wes Hohenstein, Stefan Chase, Mike Gonzalez, Alyssa Corfont and other members of the news team. This year, the event was sponsored by Bobby Murray Chevrolet.
The Capital City Clauses are the local non-profit organization responsible for hosting Raleigh’s popular Jingle Ball event each year. Toys collected at “Stock The Sled” are included in their overall collection total for the year and distributed through the Salvation Army in Wake and Durham counties. The Capital City Clauses annually provide the largest single source of toy donations for the “Christmas Cheer Program,” donating tens of thousands of new toys and financial support for the last two decades.
