GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman who said her car window fogged up crossed the center line of a Garner road and hit a Wake County Deputy’s cruiser, officials say.
The incident involved a deputy who had a K-9 unit in his car and happened around 6:15 p.m. on Fayetteville Road/US 401 in Garner near Winterlochen Road, the NC Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said the deputy and the woman were each driving in opposite directions of Fayetteville Road at the time of the crash.
The woman, who also had a passenger in her car, had just pulled out of Walmart and was heading north on Fayetteville Road while the deputy was heading south.
Thewoman told troopers that “her windows fogged up.”
The woman then crossed the center line and clipped the deputy’s cruiser, Troopers said.
Each vehicle suffered damaged to the front left side and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
The woman was charged with driving left of center.
No one – including the K-9 deputy – was hurt.
A lane in each direction was closed for about an hour Monday evening.
