RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A Clayton man charged in the Nov. 24 shooting of a 7-year-old boy in Raleigh attempted to hide the gun after the incident, warrants show.
Brandon Ross hid the gun used in the shooting in the backyard of a home at 4204 Ferriday Court before taking the boy to the hospital.
Authorities said a witness saw Ross hide the weapon.
Ross was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in connection with the shooting.
The boy was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, the warrant states. the victim was later transported to Duke Hospital due to the seriousness of his injury.
There were a total of four children in the house when the shooting happened — ages 10, seven, four and seven months old, officials said.
The 41-year-old mother of the boy who was shot was at the home when the incident happened, Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said.
