Man killed in shooting near NC Central in Durham, 3 questioned

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Durham Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred near North Carolina Central University’s campus late Tuesday night.

Police were called to the 2200 block of Concord Street around 11:50 Tuesday night in reference to a shooting call.

Officers found a male victim, 29-year-old Shawn Cade-Oree of Durham, with gunshot wounds.

Cade-Oree later died at a local hospital, police said.

NCCU Police said a crime alert was sent out to students at 3:47 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said the shooting appeared to have resulted from a dispute. Police also said three people, two men and one woman, were questioned and released from custody. No charges have been filed.

Police said the incident does not appear to be random and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
