1 dead in Durham convenience store shooting, police say

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Durham police said one person was killed in a shooting at the the University Market convenience store in the 1100 block of W. Chapel Hill Street.

Officers responded to a shooting call at the business around 12:15 p.m.

Raiford Matthews Jr., 34, of Durham was found lying in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

Matthews was pronounced dead at the scene.
