WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WXII) – A Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school bus driver has resigned after a student was injured while trying to get off the bus.

Rueben Hash was originally suspended without pay following an incident Monday afternoon, school district officials said Tuesday. The student’s injuries were minor.

The incident involved bus no. 783 while 17 students from Union Cross Elementary School were on board. The student got caught in the door while trying to get off the bus, school district officials said.

Hash is a substitute school bus driver and has been both a full-time and part-time driver for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools since 2000.

Troopers are investigating the incident. The school district sent messages to families of all Union Cross Elementary students following the incident.
