EASTWOOD, N.C. (WNCN) — A Moore County family lost their home in a fire on Saturday afternoon.
The fire started around a wood heating system used in the home in Eastwood, on-scene fire officials told The Aberdeen Times.
The fire happened at the home at 647 NC Highway 73 around 1:15 p.m.
When the fire crews first reached the scene they reported heavy smoke coming from the single-story home.
The house had significant damage from the flames, smoke and water, according to officials at the scene of the fire.
Two adults and one child were displaced by the fire. Emergency officials contacted the American Red Cross to assist the family with temporary housing.
Responding to this fire were units from Eastwood Fire Department, Carthage Fire & Rescue, Pinehurst Fire Department, West End Fire & Rescue, Seven Lakes Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
