RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – An event held by Gov. Pat McCrory and First Lady Ann McCrory was attended by nearly 400 people who brought donations for animal shelters, the governor’s office said.
The McCrory’s hosted a Christmas open house at the Executive Mansion Saturday and encouraged those who attended to donate items for local animal shelters to benefit homeless pets.
According to a release from the governor’s office, donations including tennis balls, collars, leashes, dog and cat food, plus other necessities, were dropped off and will be distributed to shelters throughout the state that are in need of essential supplies.
“Supporting pet adoption and animal shelters is a top priority for the first lady and I,” said Gov. McCrory. “The hundreds of donations collected today will go a long way to helping needy animals throughout our state have a warm and Merry Christmas.”
