“Mommy said that some kids didn’t get presents for Christmas. I said that I want to give presents to people who don’t get Christmas at all,” said Bailey.
Bailey came up with “Toy Take Away” last year after cleaning out her playroom. Her mom said it’s great to see her daughter making a difference.
“It makes me proud that she’s a cheerful giver and it makes her proud and she has so much fun doing it,” Robin Bliven said.
This year, Bailey is not only collecting donations but wrapping those presents as well. “I love wrapping I’m really good at it,” Bailey said.
People who came to the event to pick up toy were grateful.
“They got something but it’s not much so this is a great opportunity,” Doniqua Griffin said.
“My nieces probably wouldn’t have had a whole lot for Christmas, if anything, so the fact she can come out here and shop for them and get into the spirit [is great],” said Jessica Shepherd.
In October, Bailey asked her family, friends and congregation if they could donate new or used toys for kids in need. Everyone was on board and now there are over 6,000 toys.
Bailey said she’s not done. She plans to make next year’s event even bigger with possibly two locations.
