RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – If you’re a Raleigh resident and you’re ready to get rid of your Christmas tree, the City of Raleigh wants to let you know what to do.
Residents can easily dispose of their trees by placing them at the curb with their regular yard waste on their scheduled collection day. The trees will be recycled into wood chips and mulch and then sold to the public at Raleigh’s Yard Waste Center located at 900 N. New Hope Road.
It’s important for residents to make sure to remove all bags, stands, lights, tinsel, ornaments and other non-vegetative items from the tree before placing it at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on collection day. City crews will also collect natural wreaths for recycling. Any wires, metal or bows must be removed from the wreaths.
Solid waste services will also collect discarded natural Christmas trees from multifamily complexes. Multifamily complex collections are limited to one per complex and the trees must be placed in an easily accessible location. Complex managers should call 919-996-3245 to arrange for a Christmas tree collection
Artificial trees being discarded should be disassembled and placed in the garbage cart.
For Raleigh residents with a Friday collection day, trash will be picked up on Saturday morning due to the New Year’s Day holiday.
