ALBEMARLE, N.C. (WBTV) – A father was fatally shot by his son in Albemarle early Sunday morning following a fight involving a chainsaw, deputies say.
Around 1:15 a.m. officials responded to call for gunshots at a home in the 24000 block of Highway 73 in Albemarle. Deputies arrived to find 57-year-old Stanley Harwood on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
Deputies say the shooting stemmed from a physical fight between Harwood and his son, Seth Harwood. Investigators say Stanley Harwood gained access to a chainsaw after the fight, leading to the shooting, deputies say.
Deputies are still looking into details surrounding the shooting. Stanley Harwood’s body was sent in for an autopsy.
The SBI is assisting in the investigation.
