Southern Pines man shot to death Christmas Eve ID’d

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WNCN) – The man killed in a shooting on Christmas Eve in Southern Pines has been identified as 21-year-old Jocquis Alston, according to The Aberdeen Times.

Southern Pines officials were called to 194 Murray Hill Road at the Timberlane Apartments after reports of shots being fired and a person possibly being injured.

After arriving on the scene, authorities found Alston who had reportedly been shot, The Aberdeen Times reported. The victim was declared deceased at the scene. Alston’s birthday was just three days earlier on Dec. 21.

Numerous law enforcement officers responded to assist Southern Pines Police in response to a growing crowd around the incident location.

According to a law enforcement officer, no one had been taken into custody in relation to the shooting. Police could be seen kicking down doors.
