RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Wake County mom is fighting to get her daughter’s bus stop moved after she caught a dangerous moment on camera.
On video you can see Jessica Phillips’ daughter walking to the bus. The stop sign is out with the lights flashing when a dump truck drives right by.
Moments later a second dump truck goes around the bus from behind.
The stop is on Harrison Avenue just outside of Umstead State Park.
The mother said she confronted the truck driver afterwards.
“I said, ‘That was a bus it had the lights on — that’s children and he said, ‘I have my routes to do and the more routes I do, the more money I get.’ And I said, ‘That’s children’s safety you’re putting in danger.’ And he just shrugged his shoulders and went on,” said Phillips.
Phillips said she has tried to get the school district to move the stop into the parking lot that’s only a tenth of a mile further.
She said they won’t do it.
WNCN reached out to the school district for comment but said they were closed until the new year.
