STANLY COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) – A three-year-old boy died in a Stanly County house fire Tuesday morning, a source with Stanly County Sheriff’s Office says. The mother of the child was injured.
The fire started at a home on Washington Street in Badin just before 10:30 a.m.
According to neighbors, two parents and three children had moved into the home just five months ago.
Neighbors believe the two other children, who they say were older than the three-year-old, were at school when the fire broke out.
The mother was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Neighbors say the parents attempted to save the three-year-old but were not successful.
Officials have not said what they believe started the fire. Badin police and the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
