Man shot during Durham home invasion, another man shot on basketball court, police say

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Two people were shot in Durham – including during a home invasion — within about 30 minutes on Wednesday night, police said.

The first shooting happened on a basketball court on Hoover Road around 9:50 p.m., Durham Police told WNCN.

A man was shot in the lower leg while at the basketball court. No suspect information was available.

Then, just before 10:20 p.m. at a home at Layman Chapel Road, there was a home invasion, police said.

A man was shot in the back during the home invasion. The gunman in that case is still on the loose, but police did not have information about the suspect.

Both victims in the shootings are expected to recover, police said.
