Officers were dispatched to a call Sunday evening around 6:30 to a home in the 2800 block of Ashe Street. When they arrived, they found a body behind a house and thought a second person was barricaded inside the home.

On Monday, Police told WNCN that officers did not find anyone inside the home. Durham Police said Monday morning that officers thought they heard movement inside the house when they knocked on the door.

Neighbors were asked by police to evacuate, but some people refused to leave their homes.
“The victim died as a result of a gunshot wound and the case is being investigated as a homicide,” police said Monday.

Police said Wednesday that no charges have been filed at this time.
