NASHVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A student was found with drugs and a gun at a high school in Nash County on Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from the school system.

The male student at Northern Nash High School had “marijuana and narcotics in his vehicle,” Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools said in a statement.

Ammunition for a gun was also located during the initial search, officials said. Authorities conducted another search and found a firearm in the vehicle.

The student, whose name was not available, was arrested, the school system said.

The discovery of the illegal items came during an investigation by school administration and law enforcement.
