CARY, N.C. (WNCN) — New York based grocery store Wegmans is trying to open a store in Cary, the company and city said Tuesday.
“Wegmans wants to open a store in Cary, “ said Jo Natale, vice president of media relations for the grocery store firm.
“We have signed a letter of intent and are working through lease negotiations with Columbia Development Group, with hopes of reaching a final lease agreement sometime during the first quarter of 2016,” she added.
The plan for the store includes thousands of square feet of retail, restaurant and office space, plus some residential, structured parking and potentially a 130-room hotel, said Susan Moran, Cary spokeswoman.
The council will discuss their vision for that corridor at a Tuesday, Jan. 26, work session, where the council will review a draft plan for the east Cary gateway special planning area.
Wegmans bought the land from the state.
