ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A 17-year-old has been charged with murder after his stepfather was found dead in a garage Thursday, Alamance County deputies said.
Joseph Wayne Cook Goswick was arrested in connection with the discovery of a body around 9:30 a.m. on Brier Lane off Swepsonville Road south of Graham. Alamance County deputies haven’t released the victim’s name pending family notification but said he was a 36-year-old white man.
The man’s body was found partially covered on the concrete floor of a detached garage, Alamance County deputies said. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
An exact cause of death hasn’t been determined yet, and an autopsy is pending, deputies said.
Deputies said they went to the home on a call to check the welfare of a resident who was late for work with the City of Burlington. Three people, one of whom was the stepson of the check welfare subject, were encountered at the scene, deputies said.
One of the subjects at the scene was identified as a person of interest in the case, deputies said.
No other information has been released.
