Duke student robbed at gunpoint Monday

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – A Duke University student was robbed gunpoint Monday morning in Durham, university police said.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Wannamaker Drive and Chapel Drive.

According to the university, the student told officials that two suspects approached the student and pulled out handguns. After taking a number of personal items from the victim, the suspects fled in a red truck or SUV.

The student was not injured.

Duke University sent out a crime alert to all students, faculty and staff.

Officials urge anyone with information related to this incident to contact the Duke University Police Department at (919) 684-2444 and remind people to always report suspicious activity to 911.
