WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) – Utility crews are working to repair a water main break in the 700 block of Durham Road in Wake Forest.
Utility crews say freezing and thawing of the ground caused the pipe to burst, resulting in a 12-inch break. The leak was found by a Wake Forest police officer who was driving by the area.
Part of Durham Road was closed as crews worked to repair the water main break. There is no word on when the repairs will be completed.
Wake Forest town officials say several residents living along the 700 block of Durham Road, along with residents of Magnolia Forest Court, Oakwood Estates, Hope Street and Richland Drive are without water service which is expected to be restored within six hours.
