SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WNCN) — The driver of a pick-up truck was flown to an area trauma center after a crash in Southern Pines on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened in the northbound lane of US Highway 1 just before the Pennsylvania Avenue bridge shortly before 4 p.m., according to the Aberdeen Times.

A helicopter from UNC Chapel Hill landed to transport the injured man.
One lane of US Highway 1 in the northbound direction was closed for a short time while the injured man was helped.
