JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that a missing 14-year-old returned to her home after disappearing with a 28-year-old man more than a month ago.
A missing person report went out for Yuliza Parra, who is from Jacksonville, on December 9, 2015.
Yuliza Parra was last seen wearing a purple hoodie and blue jeans on December 8 at Southwest High School, leaving with a man twice her age.
A flyer released by the sheriff’s office says she vanished under “unknown circumstances.”
It was believed she was in the company of a 28-year-old man named David or Dave Avila-Gerardo, who was possibly driving a silver Chevy truck, officials said.
WCTI-TV reported that it was believed Avila-Gerardo was Yuliza’s boyfriend. Yuliza’s sister told WCTI that her family did not know about the relationship and were concerned about the situation because Avila-Gerardo is twice Yuliza’s age.
Investigators told WCTI that they did not know much about Avila-Gerardo’s criminal background because they believe he may be in the country illegally.
There is no word on if Avila-Gerardo was charged in the incident or if he was involved.
