FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A Fayetteville man is held on a more than $1 million bond after police say he sexually assaulted a woman and returned to her home weeks later.

23-year-old Devonte Williams faces multiple charges including rape, kidnapping and intimidation of a witness. The initial incident happened January 11.

The 26-year-old female victim told police that Williams sexually assaulted her at her home near Cliffdale and Reilly roads, authorities say.

On January 24, police say Williams returned and assaulted the woman again – and warned her not to press charges in the previous assault.

“What did he say to her, he was trying to get her to drop the charges and assaulted her and threatened her, she was able to talk her way out of it to make him leave the area that’s when police were already on the way,” said Lt. John Somerindyke of the Fayetteville Police.

Police say the victim was an acquaintance of Williams. His bond is set at $1.1 million.
