FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A Fayetteville mom and her teen son were injured Monday when authorities said the woman’s boyfriend stabbed them.
Regina Nicole Shahen was found bleeding profusely from the neck by deputies at a residence on Alva Circle, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said. She was bleeding from injuries to her torso as well.
Shahen’s son Tre’Shawn Brown, 17, was found suffering from stab wounds to his legs.
Both victims were transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment, authorities said.
Shahen sustained life-threatening injuries, Medical Center officials said.
The Sheriff’s Office identified Shahen’s boyfriend as the suspect in the stabbing.
Shahen’s boyfriend, 27-year-old Timothy Devon Smith Jr., was also taken to the Medical Center for a head wound and an unknown injury to his right shoulder.
Smith was arrested and charged after his release from the hospital.
He was charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury for the assault on Shahen.
Smith was charged with assault with a deadly weapon for the assault on Brown.
Smith is being held without bond.
