FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Fayetteville Police are attempting to locate a man wanted on three counts of rape for a sexual assault that occurred Jan. 30, police said.
The rape occurred in the area of Briar Circle and Owen Drive.
Authorities have obtained warrants for the arrest of James Edward Daniel II, 28, charging him with three counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sex offense, first-degree kidnapping, breaking and entering, felony strangulation, and assault on a female.
The 24-year-old victim was an acquaintance of Daniel, police said.
This is the second sexual assault to occur in the area of Briar Circle and Owen Drive since June 2015.
According to police, J’Markus Lamonta McArthur, 30, of Fayetteville, committed a sexual assault in the area of Briar Circle and Owen Drive on June 18.
McArthur was arrested Jan. 28 and has been charged with attempted second-degree rape, misdemeanor false imprisonment, misdemeanor assault on a female, and communicating threats. The 41-year-old victim and McArthur were known to each other.
McArthur was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was given a $10,000 secure bond.
