Fayetteville man shot multiple times, suspect on the run

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A man was shot multiple times in Fayetteville Monday morning and the suspect is on the run, police said.

Officers responded to 524 Moore St. at approximately 7:15 a.m. in reference to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, police found Mason Montgomery, 63, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his hands and feet.

Montgomery was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

The suspect in the shooting has been identified as Christopher Davis, 21, who lives with Montgomery at 524 Moore St., police said.

Officials said that Davis is the son of Montgomery’s girlfriend. Detectives are actively investigating the shooting and are attempting to locate Davis.

Fayetteville police have charged Davis with attempted first-degree murder, assault With a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and discharging a firearm into an occupied property inflicting serious injury in relation to the Moore Street shooting.

Davis was last seen fleeing on foot from the home toward Hillsboro Street, police said. Davis is known to frequent the areas along Hillsboro Street from Rowan Street to Ramsey Street. Police said that Davis took the gun with him when he ran from the scene and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Davis is described as standing 5-foot-7 and weighing 190 pounds, with black hair in short braids, and brown eyes. Davis was last seen wearing a brown coat, light brown pants, red shoes and he was reported to be carrying a brown Gucci bag, police said.

Davis reportedly has a number of previous charges including carrying a concealed weapon, communicating threats, injury to personal property, drug offenses, vandalism, possession of stolen property, misdemeanor larceny, unauthorized use of a motor conveyance, and several driving offenses.
