WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A mother and a child narrowly escaped injury Sunday morning after shots are fired at their car on U.S. Highway 421.
Authorities said the woman was driving north on the highway about 6:45 a.m. when a white vehicle approached from behind at a high rate of speed.
The woman said the vehicle began to pass her when three shots were fired into her car.
Investigators said the bullets struck the right rear bumper, right rear quarter panel, and one penetrated the rear passenger door and struck the child’s safety seat.
The mother and her child were not hurt.
