82nd Airborne paratrooper dies after being found unresponsive in Ft. Bragg barracks

FORT BRAGG, N.C.(WNCN) – An 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper was found unresponsive Feb. 1 in his Fort Bragg barracks room, officials confirmed.

Pfc. Jacob R. Buckmaster Jr., 22, of Shawnee, Oklahoma was an infantryman assigned to 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Abn. Div., Fort Bragg announced.

“Pfc. Jacob Buckmaster was by all accounts a valuable member of the team,” said Lt. Col. Jacob Larkowich, commander of the 1st Bn., 505th PIR.

He had been with the Army since Sept. 2014.

Buckmaster is survived by his child and parents.
