DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – An anonymous tip to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a man who had multiple guns, a bulletproof vest, over one pound of marijuana and $4,700 cash stashed in his home.
Authorities executed a search warrant at the home of William Keith Waters, 33, located at 100 Village Circle Way on Jan. 28 and seized 583 grams (1.28 pounds) of marijuana, a .45 caliber handgun, 9mm pistol, a ballistic vest, and $4,713 in U.S. currency.
Waters was arrested at his home without incident.
While civilians are allowed to purchase body armor, the ballistic vest was confiscated as part of an investigation and “in the interest of public safety,” authorities said.
Waters is charged with five counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver Schedule VI, four counts of selling and delivering Schedule VI, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, three counts of maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Waters was processed at the Durham County Detention Facility where he posted bond and was later released.
