CHOCOWINITY, N.C. (WNCT) – Beaufort County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three individuals in connection to a meth lab in Chocowinity Tuesday evening.
Charlie Rose with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said they had received previous complaints about the property at 113 N.C. Highway 33 West. He said their drug unit was already investigating the case before the bust. When deputies arrived, there was an active meth lab cook operation going on.
The home was located in the heart of Chocowinity, just feet away from neighboring houses. Neighbors didn’t want their identities known, but were willing to talk to WNCT.
“It’s very surprising to have a meth lab over there,” said one neighbor. “Although you hear about them all the time, I hate that it’s in my neighborhood. I’m just sorry that it happened.”
The neighbor said suspicious activity and cars coming and going had taken place at the home for a while.
Chocowinity Fire Department and EMS were called to the scene to assist with decontamination. The State Bureau of Investigation was also called in to assist with clean-up.
Two males and one female are in custody and charges are pending. No other information was released.
