CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – The circus is in town! Not only is the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus entertaining hundreds, they are donating $10,000 to UNC Children’s Hospital to support local pediatric patients.
The money goes toward studying DNA from Ringling Brothers elephants and comparing it to DNA from patients with cancer. They are hoping it’s the key to solving cancer.
”They always say laughter is the best medicine, and why not bring that laughter to children? Part of what makes this so fantastic is that we’re giving them the opportunity to step away from things that may be difficult for them and really give them the ability to just be kids,” said Ring Master David Shipman.
Over the next several months, Ringling Brothers will donate more than $1 million toward the cause.
