LINDEN, N.C. (WNCN) — A Cumberland County man has been charged with second-degree murder after his wife was found dead in their home early Saturday, officials say.
Mary Louise Mora of the 8900 block of Steeplechase Drive was found dead inside the couple’s home in the early morning hours of Saturday, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.
Her husband, Jesus Mora, is charged with Second Degree Murder, deputies said.
Deputies say they were first alerted to the incident when Jesus Mora made a 911 call, but would not say why he needed help.
When deputies arrived they found Jesus Mora in a neighbor’s driveway. Mora and the deputies went to the couple’s house to determine the circumstances.
A deputy entered the home and saw a Mary Louise Mora’s motionless body on the floor.
“It was very apparent to the deputies that the victim was not alive,” deputies said in a press release.
Deputies then interviewed family and friends and then charged Mora.
Mora is being held in the Cumberland County Jail.
He will appear before a District Court Judge on Monday for a bond hearing and his first appearance.
