ROBBINS, N.C. (WNCN) — A three vehicle wreck outside Robbins on Saturday evening sent one person to a trauma center by helicopter.
The wreck, which involved a a passenger car and two pickup trucks, happened on NC Highway 705 near Clanies Loop between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. Saturday, according to the Aberdeen Times..
The passenger car was damaged in the front and rear by each pickup truck.
According to emergency responders, the driver of one of the pickup trucks reportedly fled the scene on foot before law enforcement arrived.
One person was transported from the scene by ambulance to a ballfield at the corner of Hemp Street and Green Street in Robbins where a landing zone had been setup for a helicopter.
The victim was airlifted from there by a helicopter to a regional trauma center with what were reported to be not life threatening injuries.
There were no other injuries reported.
One lane of NC 705 was closed to traffic for an extended time period after the wreck while the injured victim was assisted and the roadway cleared of debris.
Officials alternated lane closures, allowing traffic to get past the accident scene with only brief delays.
Robbins Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, Robbins Police Department, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the NC State Highway Patrol responded to the crash.
The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
