Durham job fair gets people thinking of summer

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Summer may be months away but it’s not too early to start thinking about summer camps and pools.

Hundreds of people came out Saturday for a job fair hosted by Durham Parks and Recreation for part-time jobs and volunteer positions.

The event was held at the Holton Career and Resource Center.

A couple of hundred positions are open, including lifeguards, camp counselors, cashiers, and public works positions.

One high school student in attendance worked at a city camp last year and is hoping to get a job again this summer.

“I think it’s a great event. It informs you about different areas that you probably would have not known existed before and I think it’s just a great opportunity to meet some of the people that you could be working with and some of the people that could be interviewing you,” said Christopher Gatewood.

Some of the jobs will even open in March.
