RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A long line of taxis followed a hearse to the funeral on Thursday as area taxi drivers honored one of their own who was shot and killed while on duty Monday morning.

Jose Nicolas Dominguez, 55, of Raleigh died around 1:25 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of Hodge Creek Drive at the Hodges Creek Apartments, police said.

“We lost a good friend, a good father, a good grandfather, a person that was always there for us,” said Jovanka Diaz.
