72-year-old woman critically injured in Durham drive-by shooting

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – A 72-year-old woman was critically injured in a drive-by shooting in Durham Friday night, Durham County sheriff’s officials said.

The sheriff’s office is seeking the public’s help in identifying potential suspects involved in the drive-by shooting that occurred just before 10:15 p.m. Friday.

The woman was inside a residence at 3017 Forrester Street when she was wounded. She was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Investigators have not released her name as of yet.

At least two of the victim’s relatives were inside the home at the time of the shooting. They were not injured.

Durham County authorities said the shooting is not believed to be random.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Durham County Sheriff’s Office at (919) 560-0900 with information that could lead to an arrest. The public can also submit anonymous tips on the sheriff’s office website.
