Gunman robs 2 newspaper delivery workers in Moore County

ABERDEEN, N.C. (WNCN) — Two newspaper delivery workers were robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of a convenience store in Aberdeen early Saturday morning.

The incident happened at the Speedway convenience store on US Highway 1 at the corner of Dogwood Drive around 3:15 a.m. Saturday, according to the Aberdeen Times.

According to law enforcement authorities, a truck driver delivering newspapers for the Fayetteville Observer and a newspaper route carrier were in the parking lot of the Speedway station when they were approached a gunman.

The robber also stole some personal items from the victims including a wallet and a cellphone.

The suspect fled the parking lot on foot.

A K9 unit from the Southern Pines Police Department was called in to assist tracking the person; however the suspect was not located.

The were no injuries reported in the incident. The convenience store was closed at the time of the robbery.
