BETHEL, N.C. (WNCT) – Farmville Central’s girls basketball team will not play in the postseason after a ruling by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Monday.

Jaguar players Qyinesha Pettway, sister Teirra Pettway and Diantynese Williams were all suspended for their role in a fight that occurred with 3:44 to play in the game on Saturday. North Pitt was leading the contest 75-32 when the game was called by the officiating crew. The Panthers were awarded the victory.

Three suspensions automatically disqualify a team from the postseason. The Jaguars were also fined $1,000 for players leaving the bench area.

North Pitt had two players suspended, so the Panthers will play in the postseason. Quandramec Moore and Dorian Sharpe will miss the next four games. That would be two in the conference tournament and two in the state playoffs.

North Pitt Coach Neal Carr was also placed on a one-year probation for his comments afterwards.
