CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — A furious UNC Head Coach Roy Williams fired back during a post-game press conference at a report on Saturday that he might be coaching his last year at UNC.
Apparently, CBS pregame analyst Doug Gottlieb said or implied that Williams might step down at the end of this season.
Williams got wind of it and went on a 35-second rant about the statement by Gottlieb.

“Doug Gottlieb said that I was going to retire and Hubert (Davis) was going to replace me. That’s sinful… sinful… you have no freaking idea what you are talking about,” Williams said.
Williams then conveyed a story about Gottlieb, in which he claims Gottlieb had his shorts on backwards during a game at Oklahoma State.
“The guy who said that couldn’t put his damn pants on the right way when he was playing at Oklahoma State. (The) Kansas crowd (was) yelling ‘shorts on backwards.. shorts on backwards…’ , “Roy Williams said.
“So, Oklahoma State got into a little circle and (head coach) Eddie Sutton let him take his pants off and put them on the right way. He didn’t even have his dad gum pants on the right way,” Williams said.
Williams then finished the rant by asking the media: “You didn’t know I was going to say that did you?”
Since Williams called him out, Gottlieb has clarified what he said.
“There was no ‘report’ on Roy. Simply stating his knees, vertigo, NCAA stuff make people think this could be his last year,” Gottlieb said on Twitter.
During the rant, Williams did have one nice thing to say about Gottlieb:
“Doug, I like Doug, but that is not journalism .. don’t make crap up.”
