DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) first campaign field office in the Triangle is set to open in downtown Durham Sunday, the campaign announced.

The senator’s campaign is formally opening the office with a grand opening event that begins at 6 p.m. at 207 N. Church St. in downtown Durham.

The Durham field office is one of three opening across the state Sunday.

North Carolina’s presidential primary will be held March 15 and early voting begins March 3.

Before the North Carolina primary is what many call “Super Tuesday,” the day when 13 states and one territory hold either a presidential primary or caucus.

Aisha Dew, the North Carolina state director of the Sanders campaign, will speak to supporters.

Door open at 5:30 and the event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are strongly encouraged.
