WNCN wins 6 awards in Emmy competition

WNCN Investigates reporter Jonathan Rodriguez accepts an award on Saturday night.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WNCN) – CBS North Carolina won six awards at the 30th Annual Midsouth Emmy Awards held Saturday night in Nashville, Tennessee.

WNCN Investigates reporter Jonathan Rodriguez, producer Carey Gough and photographer David Hattman won for their #BoozeItLoseIt story in the “Serious Feature News Series” category.

Also, the Investigates team, along with reporter Beau Minnick, won the category of Specialty Assignment Report with coverage of Energy Exploration in North Carolina.

The WNCN promotions team won for their “WNCN Today: Go Be Great Durham” spot in the “Promo Spot/News Image” category and for the #Brake4Buses public service announcement campaign in the “Community/Public Service (PSA) Campaign” category.  The promotions team also won for a Promo Campaign – WNCN: Tools of the Trade.

News director Andrea Parquet-Taylor and WNCN won a community service Emmy for the #Brake4Buses campaign.
