CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – Chapel Hill Police are looking for a man who they say exposed himself near Granville Towers and Fraternity Court on UNC-Chapel Hill’s campus.
Police said the incident happened Sunday morning in a driveway between two frat houses not far from Granville Towers.
The man asked the victim for directions and when the victim approached her car, she noticed the man was naked from the waist down.
He then attempted to grab her by the arm.
“I don’t know what his intent in trying to grab her was, whether it was just to make sure she saw what he was doing or what the reasoning was,” said Lt. Josh Mecimore with Chapel Hill police.
The suspect is described as a man in his 30s or 40s. He was last seen in a red four-door sedan.
Police said another group of people reported a similar suspicious man asking for directions about the same time but they did not approach the car.
Students got an alert about the incidents through email and many say it’s not something they’d expect in this area.
“It’s actually really unusual especially so close to frat court and everything that’s very alarming,” said Rohini Bahethi.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.
