Virginia man arrested in connection with death of NC man

Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged Demetrius Lamar Farmer with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping in connection to the Jan. 15 shooting death of Benjamin Baker.

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — A 26-year-old Danville man has been charged in connection with the Jan. 15 shooting death of Benjamin Baker.

Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged Demetrius Lamar Farmer with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping.

Baker was found dead in his Eden home from an apparent gunshot wound.

Farmer was arrested by Danville police Friday night and is custody at the Danville City Jail without bond. He is the third suspect to face charges.

Daquarius Rashawn Martin, 18, of Martinsville, Va., and Zachary Wray Haley, 18, of Axton, Va., also face charges.
The investigation is still ongoing.
